Library Manager
Virgil & Josephine Gordon Memorial Library, Sealy, TX
The Virgil & Josephine Gordon Memorial Library is seeking an experienced, organized, and community-minded Library Manager to lead our growing private library into its next chapter.
As our community continues to expand, we are looking for a professional who combines excellent customer service with strong administrative and management skills. The successful candidate will be an effective leader who can supervise staff, manage daily operations, implement Board policies, and foster a welcoming environment for patrons of all ages.
This position is more than managing books—it is about leading people, building systems, and helping the library thrive as an essential resource for our community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership of library operations.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate library staff and volunteers.
- Develop and maintain efficient administrative systems and procedures.
- Ensure policies adopted by the Board of Directors are implemented consistently.
- Prepare bi-monthly reports and communicate regularly with the Board.
- Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and operational planning.
- Coordinate library programs and community events.
- Maintain an organized, welcoming, and customer-focused library environment.
- Assist with grant administration and reporting.
- Build relationships with schools, civic organizations, donors, and community partners.
- Support the Board’s strategic vision for the continued growth of the library.
